Color is is the principal element of this work, followed by an exploration of pattern and design. In these paintings the process is also part of the work, using the irregularity of handmade papers and the different qualities of the watercolor pigments.
All of the paintings have an underlying grid structure, whether they look like a profusion of imagery or a carefully constructed chart. Breaking or keeping the grid sets up the rhythm of the work. Incremental change occurs through color and pattern. The image arrives through the accumulation of marks over time
